What it takes to be the best mommy

Collin fully enjoyed his role as Christmas cookie tester!

This evening, Cooper sustained a particularly nasty scrape. I'm sure it was uncomfortable, but I'm also sure he discovered an opportunity to snag a heaping of attention and sympathy. As tears streamed down his face, I pulled him into a bear hug and then planted two bandaids on his wound.

He looked into my eyes and said, "You're the best mommy in the world."

Connor, listening to the conversation, interjected, "She's not really the best mommy in the world."

He continued, "Can she do acrobatics?"

"Can she shoot a gun?"

"Has she been in the army?"

"Can she fight like a ninja?"

And on and on he peppered us with a litany of questions. Pretty soon, my "best mommy status" seemed shaky and undeserved.

Cooper listened and then piped up, "She puts bandaids on."

Isn't it great when that's all it takes to be the best.
