Mother's Day Words

Cooper poses with his preschool shirt and a school buddy before a zoo field trip.  He was SO excited!

Cooper was angry with me recently.  He looked me square in the eye and blurted out, "I hate..."

He paused.

I moved forward and stared him in the eyes, ready to pounce on any naughty phrases that could spill from his lips.

He seemed to sense he was teetering a dangerous line and weighed his words carefully.  With a huff, he finally finished his statement.  He announced, "I Hate Mother's Day."

A smile crept up to my lips.

"Cooper, I think Mother's Day is on par with Christmas," I joked.

He scowled.

I'm hoping he feels differently by Sunday.
